Delay/Spread Offense Coverage

During spread or delay offense, Lead position is wide toward sideline when necessary. The Trail and Center shall be wide toward sideline. Officials must move to improve coverage. Total court awareness is essential; knowledge of ball, players, and partners location is mandatory. The Center’s Coverage Across Court in Transition

In transition, during backcourt throw-ins and pressure situations, the Center must assist the Trail and Lead as the Center frequently has best position to observe play. This may require the Center making rulings from across the court. The Center should move briskly to location of foul or violation.
